Final Holiday Activities

Thursday the 2nd of January we got off from the temple at 12:30 so we went to Time Square to see things we had missed and to Grand Central to get a keepsake for my Mom.  We went to Fox Square and took a picture by their tree, to get a picture of the New York Times and to see the ball at 1 Time Square.  when I realize how small it is and how short the drop I realized I didn’t miss much and I got pictures anyway.  We went to the Grand Central Shop and bought keepsakes and viewed their display and came home.

New Year’s Eve

We went to the food bank again.  We cleaned the storage area, prepared food and served food.  I was exhausted when we were done.  Jeff and I skipped the missionaries activity and went to see the Star Wars movie and spend some time at home.  At about 11:40 we walked down to 59th and 7th ave to watch the ball drop.  I have wanted to do that since we got here. Unfortunately the police wouldn’t let us stand there we had to walk back and for and it was very anti climactic.  I did get pictures and was there.

The Opera

We hated the opera.  It was across the street at the Metropolitan Opera and the building was amazing. The  opera was Der Rosenkavalier.  Angela’s singing was amazing but she was playing a boy and the story line was crude.  We didn’t turn on the text until the third act but maybe that was good.  The opera was 4 and a half hours (way too long).  The opera hall was amazing.

Harlem Food Bank

On Christmas Eve we went to the Harlem Food Bank to wrap gifts and make hygiene kits for Christmas.  We were there about 4 hours.  Some of the missionaries helped in the pantry where people come for food.

The Messiah at Carnegie Hall

Monday December 23rd we were blessed to attend the Messiah at Carnegie Hall.  I wasn’t crazy about the soloists but the choir was amazing.  We walked there and back.

Art Thou Better Than He?

We went to the Liberty Jail.  I was quite disappointed in the tour.  We started at the visitor center just across the street from the RLDS ...
